John retired from the University of Tasmania after 40-years. He began in electrical engineering and soon became an electronics technician, with a passion for computers and audio visual equipment.

He volunteered for many years with Scouts Australia, Tasmania, with many policy and technical responsibilities at the headquarters at The Lea. John now enjoys his lifestyle in Devonport with dog 'Buddy'.
